Got an A on this paper!

The author’s main point of this story is masculinity.  The author talks about people labeling men as some masculine monster that can overpower women.  Men that don’t meet masculine expectations sometimes are called sissies, wimps, and girls.  Men are supposed to be more dominating than women.  There are men out there that show compassion toward their own sex and women too.  As long as the term masculinity exits, men will always have more power over women.

One of the author’s back up points is that U.S. culture labels men as having masculinity.  Using the word masculinity ruins it for men and degrades them too.  For example the author talks about September 11, 2001.  The firefighters went inside the Twin Towers of The World Trade Center.  People considered them brave and tough for going into the burning buildings because they were men.  Women can rescue people from burning buildings too.  So nobody should be distinctly labeled for what gender they are.

I agree with the author’s story.  People always have to stereotype everyone.  For example a man comes up to another man and asks how about them Vikings?  The man answered back and said I don’t watch football, but I do watch The Food Network.  The other man perhaps might call him a big sissy and a wimp.  Men shouldn’t assume another man likes football just because he’s male.  Perhaps the man should ask a woman instead and see if she likes the Vikings.  As long as the terms masculinity and femininity exist, there will always be problems.  Men will most likely rule in some stuff, but it could get possibly overturned.  Perhaps men and women will share and compromise with living life on Earth someday.
